Great place for English books and English speaking expats
'está OK'
This is a small but cozy place with free wifi, where, if you're looking for books in english or just to connect with other english speaking folks, is one of the better places to go.
Their weekly thursday night intercambio always draws a good turnout of both spanish and english speakers and at 1.50 at time of writing, the cañas are dirt cheap.

Pinxos to die for
'me encanta, uno de mis favoritos'
One of the best Pinxos restaurants in Madrid. For those who don't know what Pinxos are (pernounced Peenchos), they are only similar to tapas in that they are bite sized portions but thats the only similarity they share. Think of fine haute cuisine in miniature with Basque origins (one of the regions in the world with the highest concentration of michelin starred chefs in the world) Crabmeat crepes, Wild mushroom raviolis, grilled foie gras, stuffed red peppers, black rice in squid ink ... everything they serve here is absolutely delicious.

A Pawn Shop of a different kind
'me gusta'
This is the place to buy used stuff in Madrid. It's pretty much just a pawn shop but since its a franchise, it comes with the attention, look and feel of a modern electronics shop. Additionally, it is well staffed with helpful employees and every product they sell comes with a one year guarantee. I bought a bike for 50 euros and a wireless keyboard and mouse set for 10 euros.
