Fabulous

I came across this Argentinian restaurant the other day while I was out cycling with a friend and, after reading the menu that was posted outside, knew I had to try it out. And what better opportunity than to celebrate the birthday of my friend Steve, who was visiting from London.

I was right about the menu. The food was superb. And the Argentinian cabernet our waiter recommended was perfect. The staff were very friendly and efficient - we had excellent service all through the meal. And they even put birthday candles on my friend’s dessert, as well as offering us liqueurs and cava on the house. I’ll definitely be back.

At the end of the Jardines de Murillo you will find this very comfortable bar offering some very interesting tapas. Also open for breakfast.

Bar Estrella

The sister bar of Cervecería Giralda, tucked just around the corner and with a cosier and more laid-back ‘ambientation’. Basically the same menu (though with somewhat better prices) and fabulous bar staff.

My favourite breakfast bar in Sevilla, serving the very best coffee in town (the Starbucks that opened right across the street is just full of tourists who want to pay three times more for less quality) and they offer a wide selection of freshly baked breads served toasted with the topping/filling of your choice. Butter or olive oil, jam, fresh tomatoes, jamon serrano, tortilla, manchego cheese, ham & cheese, smoked salmon, you name it. There is also a take-away food section and bakery.

Yebra

After being told about this place by friends for ages I finally made it here for the first time last year (and have been back many times since). My friends were right - it's a wonderful place. Fabulous innovative food and very pleasant bar staff. A nice selection of wines. Favourites include the sea bass with prawns, clams & jamón serrano, grilled hake topped with langostines & baby eels, and pork tenderloin stewed in a sherry & pinenut sauce with cinnamon. Mmmmmmm...
