Gastrosol
Encarnación Market, Metropol Parasol Sevilla, Sevilla provincia, España 37.4224346 -5.8979651
guardado por una persona
Gastrosol is a unique space in Sevilla atop the Metropol Parasol (aka Las Setas), with 55 metres of bar and 1100 metres of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city. What is also unique is the concept – a bit like a gourmet food hall with six different bars forming the hub of the space with shared seating, both inside and out. You order your food at the bars, paying as you go, which means you can “mix and match” if, for example, you’d prefer to have the tapas from one place and wine from another. There are also two large salon areas that will mostly be used for private events or, if the bar seating area gets too crowded, as an overflow section.
There are three tapas bars: Puerto Delicia Tapas, 6 Sentidos (run by Abantal & the Flores brothers) and a third that will change every six months, so there will always be something new on offer. At Alicantina Mar you can get seafood and fried fish and the abacería will soon be open for charcuterie. There is also a café/bar which, along with Puerto Delicia and the marisquería, are run by Restaurante Puerto Delicia.
Residents of Sevilla can access GastroSol free of charge, non-residents have to pay the 1.20€ fee to take the lift to the top of the Metropol Parasol (which is then deducted from your bill at Gastrosol). Once up it’s a fabulous spot to stop for a drink and a snack and enjoy some of the best views in Sevilla.

Three partners, three chefs and a menu imported from Besana Tapas combine with delectable design from award-winning Donaire Arquitectos to offer style and sustenance at newly-opened Pa Catar. The tapas are as visually pleasing as they are delicious, and there’s a super wine list with lots of by-the-glass options – para catar. A stone’s throw from Metropol Parasol, Pa Catar is sure to become one of my neighbourhood favourites. I love the corner spot at the bar in front of the floor to ceiling window, perfect for people watching.

Las Tres Jotas (Juan, Jeanine & Jesús) have done it again. As at the original La Azotea in c/Jesús del Gran Poder, their newly opened second location offers superb food and excellent service in a cosy and convivial atmosphere. Same great menu and fabulous wine list (with several varieties available by the glass) along with daily specials. I have too many favourite tapas to list so I’ll let the photos below speak for themselves.
Tapas are available at the bar, full and half raciones at the tables. In December there will be a change in the opening hours when La Azotea Zaragoza starts serving breakfast – will keep you posted.

La Azotea Vinos & Más has recently moved to new digs just around the corner from La Azotea restaurant. It has been transformed from the original fab gourmet food and wine shop into a wonderful wine bar featuring a small selection of tapas that includes fresh seafood, charcuterie, and a tasty assortment of “panes de la casa”, with sommelier Ana Gamero on hand to recommend food and wine pairings that will delight and surprise you.
There are also weekly catas (wine tastings), usually held on Wednesdays, that are free of charge and feature wines that can later be purchased in the shop.

I remember Maria Angeles from another tapas bar I used to frequent, and I always appreciated her way of being both professional and personal. And so when I saw that she had opened a bar of her own (with a partner) I was keen to check it out. Arfe 38 Caldos & Viandas specialises in high quality charcuterie and cheeses paired with excellent wines in a cosy and unpretentious setting.
Maria Angeles also hosts wine tasting evenings and told me of a special one coming up where she’ll be pairing wine with music, and will have two musicians on hand. It’s the perfect place to stop in for a snack or to start off an evening’s tapeo. Check the board for the wines of the week and also ask about special food items being offered.

It’s a gourmet food store, it’s a wine bar, it’s the latest venture by the Federico Flores family, who have been at the distribution forefront of promoting Andalusian wines and food products for two generations. And it is housed in very chic digs in the rapidly up-and-coming Puerta de Triana neighbourhood.
You are totally spoiled for choice as there are up to five different types of jamón and 30 wines that can be sampled, as well as cheeses and tapas made from a wide range of locally produced items. A perfect try-before-you-buy option or, if you just feel like tasting, either sit out on the ample terrace or grab a cosy banquette at the back of the shop. The very knowledgeable and helpful staff will help you choose your tapas and wine, and then pack up more for you to take home.

The newest tapas bar on trendy and touristy Mateos Gago is also one of its best. Gago 6 opened just before Semana Santa and is still a little rough around the edges, but the food is great and I’ve never tasted better fried boquerones. Owners Maria Paz and Elena are still putting the finishing touches on the wine tasting section of the bar where you will be able to buy a “wine card” that will allow you to choose a sample or copa of the weekly selections at the serve-yourself wine dispenser. There are also plans for live jazz in the small alcove of the wine bar. But for now just go and enjoy the excellent food, either in the cool pale green dining area or outside on the sidewalk terrace.

Just opened! Reinas is the new “sister bar” of La Traviesa, situated just two doors over in the Plaza Regina. This new abacería/tasting bar is stocked full of fabulous wines and food products which you can sample before you buy to take home, or just stop in for a snack or a light meal. There are 12 wines on offer by the glass, which change weekly, along with a nice selection of tapas.
Coming soon: an upstairs private dining room for groups of 4-8 people. Tasting menus with wines will be served by the charming & knowledgable Antonio, who will take you through each course and ensure an interesting and pleasurable evening.

Run by Sevillanos Cristo García y Juan Luis Fernández, Binomio focuses on fine cuisine that is market fresh and elaborately put together. I’ve only tried the tapas, which were exquisite. There are separate menus for the dining area, including tasting and group menus. Decor is chic and tasteful and there is an excellent wine menu. Just around the corner you can stop by the Cool Bar for a post-prandial cocktail.

Exquisite tapas in chic modern setting
Now that Albarama has opened just a couple of doors down from my favourite wine bar Puracepa I’m going to have a hard time deciding which one to choose when I’m in the area. Luckily it won’t create a conflict of loyalty as both are owned by Juan Carlos García, and both will serve different “needs”. Chef Diego at Albarama has created an exquisite tapas list, and also has daily tapas specials depending on what’s fresh at the market that day. Have not yet tried the dining room situated in the back patio, but will let you know when I do.
