Every time I go to Albur I like it more! When I go it's usually to stop in for a quick wine or caña but I generally end up ordering from the menu. The last time I went I sat in the restaurant area to the left of the bar as you enter. The ambience of the bar is generally lively and of course noisy but the restaurant area was calmer (though with a few more tables for four this may not have been the case!).
All of the raciones were excellent; the cheese was the good stuff and not the type of queso curado that arrives at the table floppy and glistening from the freshly-opened own-brand packet, but the other dishes were even better - salmon with "patatas arrugadas" and "pulpo a la gallega". We ordered wine by the glass, not bottle, and both were excellent. No doubt I´ll be back in Albur again.

I stumbled upon this restaurant whilst looking for a coeliac-friendly place to have lunch in Santander, although I must add that in many of the restaurants I visited during my stay there the staff were knowledgeable about gluten-intolerant diets and were able to provide advice and alternatives. Even so, extra points go to Casa de Comidas de Tetuán where a member of staff left the restaurant to track down gluten-free bread to accompany my meal when none was available in house.
The restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming as well as elegant, and the food and wine both delicious. A great spot for a relaxed lunch.
