Bringing together wit, wisdom and enough food and drink to see you through from early breakfast to a nightcap at last orders at the bar, The Book Club offers a cultural revolution to the East End’s social scene.

The Book Club fuses lively, creative events and late night drinking seven days a week with an alternative menu of brain-teasing and mind-expanding thought for food in the form of workshops, talks, cultural showcases, parties, ping pong, pool and the best in new music. The Book Club is the younger, slightly smarter sibling of the Queen of Hoxton, and has turned the conventional arts institution on its head, fusing boozing with brain power.

Two spacious floors of a former Victorian warehouse on Leonard Street have been kitted out for eating, drinking, thinking, meeting and dancing. The Book Club has a familiar, eclectic feel as varied as the clientele and the entertainment on offer. The interior blends the raw, pared-down character of the building with layers of mix and match vintage soft furnishings, naïve mosaics and graphic lighting features, as well as the constantly evolving permanent exhibitions that adorn the walls.

The Book Club presents an eclectic ongoing programme of events and social activities in art, music, film, fashion, philosophy, design, science, and the odd spot of craft. The line-up includes special screenings and cross platform club nights showcasing new creative talent through to informal evening classes and talks by a host of eclectic and interesting thinkers.

‘…one of Shoreditch’s best and quirkiest venues’ (Time Out, January 2011)

‘The Book Club can bring you from an early breakfast to a nightcap, from a cultural showcase to a spot of dancing and with its unforgettable charm and ability to satisfy nearly all urban needs. I think it’s safe to say that one visit won’t nearly be enough.’ (Weekend Notes, April 2011)

‘The Book Club, Shoreditch is a gem of a find.’ (Tuppence magazine, September 2011)

‘Food/Drink: 5/5.’ (London Larder)

The Wapping Project, a unique new centre for the arts in East London located in the historic Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, is now open to the public. A multipurpose exhibition and performance space, the Wapping project will feature newly commissioned works by visual artists, choreographers, composers, writers, poets, designers and film makers. A new restaurant and bar are also open in the Engine and Turbine Houses.

The Wapping Project, a former hydraulic power station in E1, has been transformed into a £4 million arts centre by Jules Wright, a leading theatre director, arts practioner and thinker. Our afternoon starts with an exploration of Wapping, passing warehouses, pubs and churches, finishing at the Project, where we will view the current exhibition.

I went to this restaurant on Saturday nite with a friend and I have to say, its a cool place....We were greeted as soon as we walked in and was shown our table. Not the greatest of tables but compared to the openess of the place, it was rather discreet.

The service was great and the menu was very simple but at the same time varied enough to satisfy various taste buds. My starter of Butternut Squash soup wasnt creamy and mains of Whole Grouse was a real let down but my friend chose the plate of spanish meat for starters and Tiger Prawn for her main course and she truly enjoyed both. The desert was the icing on the cake as it was exquisite..

All in All, Great Service, Great Atmosphere and All in all, A great dining experience

casa-museo espectacular

uno de los museos-casa más fascinantes que existen.

Soane was born in 1753‚ the son of a bricklayer‚ and died after a long and distinguished career‚ in 1837.
Soane designed this house to live in‚ but also as a setting for his antiquities and his works of art. After the death of his wife (1815)‚ he lived here alone‚ constantly adding to and rearranging his collections. Having been deeply disappointed by the conduct of his two sons‚ one of whom survived him‚ he determined to establish the house as a museum to which 'amateurs and students' should have access
