These people are zapatilla machines. Popular, and for good reason.

I went here with a friend today to check out the tapas situation and I was not at all disappointed. For I believe...1.85 euro per beer...we got a plate full of croquetas, patatas bravas, cheese, tortilla etc. After one beer I was already full, and on the second we received something that kind of reminded me of christmas ham (lacon). I wasn't a huge fan of the tortilla but the overall cheapness and good deal made up for the less than adequate aspects of my mountain of food.

Also I was pretty curious about the mushrooms stuffed with jamon or something that we did not have the pleasure of trying. They looked great! The bread was tasty, however it was smothered with garlic if anyone doesn't like that.

My final anecdote is that the high point of my visit may have been watching a british woman very persistently try to order a margarita. If you're looking for a margarita, don't go to el tigre :) I will definitely be returning here in the future.

Great!

Upon walking into this restaurant, I thought I had some how time warped myself into one of the places attempting to be Tex Mex back home in Connecticut. The food, however, was much better than the meals provided back in the northeast, and from what I can tell pretty authentic.

One major positive: free chips and salsa! Every other Mexican place I have frequented in Madrid has not provided this staple that I almost expect when eating at Mexican restaurants.

As for the meals, the first time I went I had the guacamole and the beef burrito. The guacamole (about 6 euro) was just right, and the burrito was pretty good with a side of pico de gallo and black beans (9 euro)! The sides definitely pushed the burrito into the very good category.

The second time I went, I had the Tacos al Pastor, which were very flavorful and filling. I especially enjoyed the fact that everything was not absolutely drowning in cheese, which some mexican (I guess tex mex?) restaurants so often do.

They have a nice selection of Mexican beers and mixed drinks as well. I'll definitely go back.

I can easily say that Lamiak is one of my favorite bars in all of Madrid. It's normally really busy, filled with pretty friendly people, and the drinks aren't very expensive. It reminds me a bit of Gallery Bar in New York City (Lower East Side), but differs in the sense that it's very well lit.

I'd 100% recommend this place, especially since it seems to be packed even during the week when other places in La Latina are completely empty. And, as a foreigner, I find Lamiak to be the least intimidating bar on Cava Baja.
