Let’s take a closer look at your options here…

• Add as a contact: click on the star next to their picture or on “add as contact” to follow what the person’s doing on 11870.com through your own page. At the top of this page you can see the user’s public name, the profile picture they use on 11870.com, if you have any mutual contacts (only you’re logged in) and how many people are following this user.
• Services: see what they’ve saved to their 11870.com page, the “see what others are saying” subsection is a way to compare what other user’s have to say about the services this person’s saved.
• Cities: see the cities, countries, any other areas where this user’s saved places. Clicking on the a city or area here will show you only the services the person’s saved in that area. On the right-hand column you’ll see, if the user follows any cities, the cities they’re interested in keeping up with.
• Pictures and videos: see pictures and videos that this user has uploaded to 11870.com
• Categories: this page will show you all the sections the user has created and list a few places under each category. The most frequently used categories appear on the right hand column for the user’s home page as well.
• Tags: see the tags a user is using in a “cloud”. Like with categories, the user’s home page displays a few of the frequently used tags on the right hand side. Clicking on a tag will show you the places and service the user has applied it to.
• Contacts: see their contacts, who follows them, what they’re up to… a quick list of their latest contacts is also available on the homepage.

• See their profile: when you’re looking at a user’s page, to the right you’ll see any addition profile information the user has added, under where it says “about…“
• Send a message: by clicking here you can send this user any message you like. You should know that your information as well as this person’s will remain private and no e-mail address is displayed, so if they want to reply to your message they’ll do so through your 11870.com page.
• Send profile: if you find something interesting, and would like a friend to see it, you can send them the profile by clicking here. You need to know your friend’s e-mail to send the message. You can write a personalized message too.

• Take a look at their stats: on this section of the right hand column you can see the number of places the user’s saved, discovered, how many people count them as a contact, how many pictures and videos they’ve uploaded, how many visits their page has had.
  
• Subscribe to latest services saved by a user: you can do this through feeds, read more about subscribing to feeds.
• See this user’s places and services on Google Earth. Remember that you need to have Google Earth installed!

How to go to the page for a city, country or geographical area… There are two easy ways of getting there:

• By searching for it and clicking on the location at the results page.

• By clicking on any geographical element you find when looking at other users pages, at the page for a service, etc. The name of a place usually links to the page for it.

The page for a geographical area

First of all, you’ll find a series of elements that’ll help you get a quick idea of what’s happening in the area:

• A navigation bar, more about this later… ;-)

• “Who’s been doing what” in the area, what users have been saving places and services in it.

• A list of areas contained within that region, when applicable.
• The “take a look” section, with a random selection of services in the area.

• The latest video and pictures added for services in that area.

• The option to subscribe to the updates for this page.

• The most popular tags, “what people are talking about” for the area.

Now let’s take a closer look at the gray navigation bar at the top of the page, and how to make the most out of the options you can see:

• Most popular services: selects a few of the most popular places and services in the area you’re browsing. You can choose the most popular places on 11870.com or just the ones popular among your contacts.
• Contacts: your contacts activity in the area you’re looking at. You’ll see a map and a complete list of your contacts that have at least one service there. By checking the box next to their names you’ll see the places they’ve saved on the map, it’s a great way to discover new things! You can also print it out.
• People: it’ll show a list of all users saving places and services in the area. If you look through their profiles and even add some of them as contacts, you’re likely to find people you run into occasionally at your favorite places or discover new services in your city, or perhaps they have some good tips on a city you’re planning to visit…
• Areas: will show you areas within the one you’re browsing. Clicking on an area drawn on the map, or on the name of the area (to the left of the map) will take you to the page for it. Results are printable too.
• See all: will show you all the places and services listed in the area you’re browsing.
• Tags: shows you a map, the column of the left lists the tags used in that area, checking the boxes displays the places on the map. Printable results!
• Search box: refine your search within an area. Type in the name of a place you’re looking for and possible matches will be displayed on the map. Printable as well… :-)

If what you want to do is rename or erase your tags, click on “edit” to see an editable list of tags.

You’ll be able to tag several places at a time by going to “services” and then clicking on “overview”. On this page you’ll be able to pick out the services you want to add by checking the boxes an selecting the action “add tags” from the pull down menu to the right.

You’ll end up at the following screen which, as you can see, is really easy to use!

Tags are not only useful to you as an individual user. They help everyone browse other 11870.com pages, discover similar places and much more. :-) Find out what’s popular on 11870.com by taking a peak at what other’s are tagging the most!

Categories can also be managed from the “overview” section: click on “services” and then on “overview”. There you’ll also be able to move several places at a time into a particular category.

Check the boxes on the left of the services you want to change, then pick the option “add to category” on the pull down menu over on the right. You’ll see a window like this one:

If you use a feed reader you can add your follower’s activity by clicking on the link to the right of the page.

If you have a feed reader, you can add your contacts’ 11870.com activity to your reader by clicking on “subscribe” or the icon next to it.

• Change the level of trust for one or many contacts.
• Change the nickname for one or several contacts, this way you can recognize them easier. Please keep in mind that whatever name you choose for them here will be public.
• Remove one or more contacts from your list.

You’ll also be able to do all of the above by clicking on the star next to a contact’s name, or at their page (under their user name, where it says “change”).

To see what your contacts have been up to since the last time you logged in to 11870.com (apart from the mention on your home page) you can click on the “contacts” tab, and find this under “see what they’re doing”.
