No wonder it's one of the most popular restaurants here. Musashi's weekday menu's go for 9€, and though drinks and desert are not included you do get your money's worth on tasty Japanese food. The tray includes miso soup (yum!), a filling main dish and your typical side dishes... the vegetable option (#4) does include a little bowl with fish, but everything else in it is veggie-friendly and delicious! Kind, attentive service is a plus. And the casual, laid-back atmosphere makes this a perfect place to meet friends for a quick lunch downtown.

Dutch style falafel
A Dutch franchise that is exclusively vegetarian and has a variety of fillings and sauces for the pita bread sandwiches they serve. Better, much better (fried in good oil? more veggies in the mix) than most falafel they serve at kebap places around town... and without the roasting meat in the background.

in La Latina, great food
This is a new Viva la Vida locale next to Plaza de la Paja. It's huge compared to the little shop in Huertas. The food is so good that the unpleasant woman at the register and awful music on the speakers couldn't ruin the experience for us.
I could go here every day for a week and not be tired of it... If I could only afford it.

food prices like they should be
La Sanabresa is what we call a 'casa de comidas'. At these places you can get traditional Spanish homestyle cooking at reasonable prices. Some of my favorites are El Comunista (11870.com/pro/22986) and El Bocho (11870.com/pro/el-bocho).
La Sanabresa is typically full. But the food is delicious and cheap, making it worthwhile to stand in the entrance for a while until a table is available.
I love the atmosphere too, all types of people come here.
If you're feeling fancy, order a plate of grilled green asparagus (5 euros). The thinly sliced fried eggplant (3 euro) they serve is popular for a reason too. And desserts are 2,50€
The menu is translated into English, so if you're still working on your Spanish you won't end up ordering anything you're allergic too (unless you're allergic to olive oil or garlic).
CLOSED ON SUNDAYS

Superb vegetarian take-out buffet & organic food shop. The only thing I dislike about it is the size: it's too small!
Pay by weight: 2,10€ for every 100 grams of food on your plate.
Try the Indian tortilla.
There's another one in La Latina now.

nice, imho
No frills Japanese restaurant. Probably the first Japanese restaurant that I ever went to in Madrid, 10 years ago. It's popular, but not hard to find a table... and you can get food to go.
