amazing office of architecture


ijp is an experimental ARB-registered architectural office founded in london in 2004.

ijp explores the natural intersections of space, mathematics and computation.

ijp develops small, medium and large architectural proposals that leverage numeric design and fabrication techniques of pliant three-dimensional surfaces.

these techniques were developed by founder george l. legendre, in parallel with his teaching and research activities with the departments of architecture of harvard university (1996-2000), princeton university (2003-05), and the architectural association school of architecture in london (2001-).

in 2006 the influential uk weekly building design chose ijp as one of top 5 uk-based offices led by principals under the age of forty.

presently ijp is building a large project in asia and doing competitions worldwide. It also showcases its technological R&D in installations worldwide.

Millennium Bridge
London, UK, 1996-2000

The Millennium Bridge springs from a dynamic collaboration between engineering, art and architecture to provide the first new Thames crossing since Tower Bridge. A shallow suspension structure, it is designed to allow pedestrians unimpeded views up and down river. A thin ribbon of steel by day, it is illuminated to form a blade of light at night.
