sunny side up
They boast of serving the best OJ in town. And it's pretty darn good, actually. Plus the glass comes decorated with a large chunk of pineapple. Gotta love that!
It would be the perfect place for a late Sunday morning breakfast if it were a little quieter and tasteful (it's a bit cheesy looking). The big windows allow for a lot of light, which makes up for the horrible decor.
The locale is right next to the Acacias subway exit.

Cheaper than renting a DVD!
Built in the early 20's, after years of being an ordinary neighborhood film theater, was restored in the late 80's and became the main outlet for Spain's national film archives. They play about four films a day, six days a week (closed on Mondays and most bank holidays as well). First session begins around 4 pm. Chances are, they're playing something you want to see this month, be it John Ford, John Waters or John Woo. Tickets are only 2,50€.
I like the cafe in the lobby too, it's a great meeting point.

My favorite vegetarian restaurant in Madrid. Usually busy in on a weekend, but the trick is to sign up for a table and come back in a while.
I love "potaje del druida" and their banana dessert.

A 17th century inn. I've only had lunch there, but the place was welcoming and the food was excellent.

Open until very late, on weeknights too! Great place to hang out, especially on the outdoor terrace (when it isn't raining... you know, it's Gijon).
Their "bocatas" absolutely rock.

Always full, but worth the wait (or getting there early): decent food at great prices.

just married
A great park, a couple of blocks down from the Plaza de España... the view of southern (?) Madrid is lovely. Wonderful place to hang out when the weather's right.
Be there at sunset any time in May if you want to see couples getting their wedding photos taken. Watch the photographers struggle to keep the other wedding parties out of their frame... well, I find it amusing. :-)
The temple that the park is named for was donated by the Egyptian government, it's pretty unique. Read about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Templo_de_Debod
