Pizza!
This is a really great place to get good, cheap pizza in a fun neighborhood. They have a really wide variety and most of the pizzas cost around 7 euros (for a lot of food). And 1 euro copas (glasses of beer/wine)!!! The staff can seem a bit unfriendly, but they're not so bad once you get used to it, and they always fill the wine glasses up to the top. I recommend the spinach and goat cheese pizza and the three cheese.
Bottles of wine for 5 euros!

Gourmet pizza in Bushwick
If you ever find yourself hanging out off of the Morgan L stop, this is a great option for a nice, fancy-ish dinner that's not crazy expensive. It's in kind of a hidden corner of the stark, warehouse-ridden section of East Williamsburg/Bushwick, and from the outside you wouldn't expect such a warm, rustic experience. It's got really warm lighting and wooden bench tables, and is generally a pleasant place to sit down.
The pizza is inching towards expensive (in the $8-$12 range mostly), but is very high quality and the portion size is perfect. They have a ton of great options, and a make-your-own pizza with a long list of toppings, including egg, prosciutto, and smoked mozzarella.
They used to be BYOB, but just got their liquor license so they now serve outrageously overpriced wine. We brought our own bottle and weaseled a $10 "corking fee" which was still about $10 cheaper than their cheapest wine. And from what I remember they have beer for $4.
Besides the ridiculous booze prices it's definitely a recommendable dinner spot.

Addictive pizza
There are pizza places on every other block in New York, and most of them are really mediocre, but this one is truly amazing because their specialty is artichoke pizza, which is spinach and artichoke dip and cheese on pizza crust and it is unbelievably tasty. I'm not sure how pervasive spinach and artichoke dip is around the world, but in America it's a staple of suburban chain restaurants (Chili's, for instance), so the concept of it on pizza is simultaneously pedestrian and inspired and above all delicious. I really can't emphasize enough how satisfying this pizza is.
The restaurant itself is very tiny and to-go only, so it's not a dine-in option. Artichoke slices are $4, which is on the pricey size but they're extremely large and so incredibly delicious that it's definitely worth the money. If you're going to do New York pizza, this is probably your best bet.
