The Elephant House

The Elephant House is one of the most well-known cafés in Edinburgh due to a certain author using the place to write the first Harry Potter novel. Apparentlyn as a single mum, she didn't have enough money to heat her home so she came here to get a bit of warmth and as well as some inspiration for writing her books.

The place is full of a wide mix of people especially as many J.K. Rowling fans make a pilgrimage there to soak up the atmosphere of the place and get a very nice view of Edinburgh castle out of the window.

Even if you're not a Harry Potter fan, it's worth a visit as the main theme of the café has nothing to do with boy wizards but elephants; it is kitted out with hundreds of them. This is a place to go for a coffee and tea and basically spend as long as you want in a bit of peace and tranquillity in the middle of a busy city although the cakes also look pretty good too!

Esta famosa cafetería puedes encontrarla en plena Old Town.
La decoración gira entorno al elefante: figuras de elefantes, sillones con forma de elefante, fotos de elefantes y libros donde el protagonista es el elefante. Dispone de zona de fumadores y no fumadores. Durante el día es cafetería donde la gente suele ir a leer y estudiar(hay mucho universitario) y por la noche es un pub.
Pero si hay algo que ha echo famoso a este café y que atrae mayor atención turistica es el hecho de que fue aquí donde la escritora de Harry Potter empezó a escribir sus libros.

Y además de todo lo dicho, si vas en agosto puedes ver los fuegos artificiales que echan en el Military Tattoo y el castillo de Edimburgo cambiando de iluminación. Precioso.
