No need to be silent here!

This is worth a visit if you ever find yourself in Dublin. Unlike the majority of recommended places to go in Dublin, you won't find this in the Temple Bar area but right in the heart of the shopping district.

This bar/restaurant/club is set in a reformed church and is pretty impressive. Many of the main attractions are still intact including a fairly large pipe organ but it doesn't feel stuffy in the slightest. It's a place to go to see and be seen in without being overly pretentious. It's as good as any reformed church/court room/bank that I've seen in Britain.

The club is open til three in the morning from Thursday to Sunday and there's also a nice area for sitting outside in the good weather/for the smokers which is lit up with fairy lights.

The Arches is located in spare ground in the railway arches right across from Glasgow Central railway station and the building is pretty big, accommodating a couple of thousand people on club nights.

The Arches cafe is located at the front of the building which has a decent selection of dishes that are mainly of Italian and Scottish origin and you can pick up some fairly decent deals through 5pm.co.uk website.

The building hosts many different events ranging from visual arts, contemporary theatre as well as the extremely popular 'Celtic Connections' Scottish music festival.

The club is best known for holding dance music events and frequently attracts world class DJs. It has been one of the hippest venues in the city for quite a number of years and the spaciousness of the building being built around the 6 railway arches make it unique in itself.

Tusk

Tusk is pretty stunning as it is located in a former cinema and pool hall, the ground-floor bar is decked out with mirrors, flowers and reflective lighting and it’s pretty special to set eyes on for the first time. It’s Asian-themed and includes a massive Buddha statue as well as Thai lanterns and long mirrored tunnels. It’s one of those places that you just have to see at least once. The folk who go here are more your Shawlands types rather than more pretentious types that you may encounter in the city centre, and the atmosphere is really good.

The music can be a wee bit hit and miss though. They can play some good dance tunes and R'n'B but it just depends how many cheesy tunes you want to hear on a night out and you sometimes feel like you’re attending a wedding rather than a cool club at the weekend.

It’s a pretty good night out though and this place can definitely hold it's own against many of the clubs in the city centre. The only down side is the drinks are pretty expensive but what you would expect from somewhere that is as stunning as here.

There is also a restaurant which offers Asian style cooking.

Corinthian

If you're in the centre of Glasgow then the Corinthian is certainly worth a visit. It is a stunning building which is set in a former Bank of Scotland complete with a massive glass dome and crystal chandeliers.

The building is fairly large and has various rooms including a cocktail bar, restaurant, club and a cosy lounge bar. The restaurant serves high quality food I believe although I've never tried it. The club tends to be frequented by slightly older people than the normal Merchant City crowd but worth popping along to even for a quick drink before going on somewhere else. The cocktail bar, called the lite room, is also open to 3 in the morning so if you don't fancy paying to go in somewhere and feel like staying out a bit later than you are able to in the majority of city centre pubs then it's always an option.

This is one of the best clubs in Glasgow and certainly one of the most popular. It's the place to be so it can get pretty packed especially at weekends. It's normally not too tricky getting some free passes as there is normally someone handing them out if you are passing around Queen Street of Buchanan Street.

The club is nice inside without being pretentious and the music is pretty decent and is probably one of the best R&B and Hip Hop music clubs around. On Friday night they normally play Indie and Rock and it is slightly more dancy on a Saturday.

There are two rooms as well as a fancy seating area and a place for smokers. The drink is cheap and they serve food in the Bread and Butter bit all night if you are feeling peckish.

November

Princes Square, Unit 54, 48 Buchanan St

Glasgow ( United Kingdom )

Originally called October Café and then changed to November (I'm not quite sure why they decided to do that as in my opinion October's the second worst month and November's the worst!). This bar is located on the rooftop level of Princes square which is a really impressive luxurious shopping mall right in the heart of Buchanan Street and it's pretty stylish both inside the bar as well as in the seats slightly outside looking onto the shopping mall. Sitting out there you can see what's going on in the whole mall and have all the advantages of being outside although you don't have to bear the Glasgow elements.

The prices are fairly reasonable and they've got a fairly good cocktail menu where you can get them by the pitcher. There's also food although I've never tried it. It's quite a nice place to pop into during the day for a coffee if you happen to be in town and also a good option if you're entertaining someone from outside the city as it's situated in a location that is quite different from anywhere else I've ever been in Britain proving that Glasgow does have a bit of class after all!

Shop in style or simply relax and watch the world go by!

Shopping malls may have popped up throughout the world over the past 20 years but this is a world-class example of what to do with derelict space. Located right in the heart of one of Glasgow's busiest and most beautiful streets, this restored listed building should not be missed. Whether you have the cash to splash on its numerous designer shops or like to window shop and might be able to afford the odd item when the sales are on like me, it's definitely worth a wander around for a bit of retail therapy. There is an extremely good choice of top quality shopping including Reiss, Karen Millen, French Connection and Calvin Klein.

There are also numerous bars, cafes and restaurants located throughout the centre which means you're sure to find something no matter what you're in the mood for. Darcy's, on the ground floor, is well-known for the quality of its food and you can either choose a set menu or a la carte or simply have a coffee while enjoying one of the many concerts which takes place (particularly around Christmas time). The bars and restaurants in the centre are open until midnight and the club November, on the top floor, is open until 1am at the weekend.

There are also a number of stalls selling traditional Scottish arts and crafts throughout the centre which make for truly unique presents.

Hassle-free Boogie

This is a wee club with a relatively small dance area but plenty of seats, so you can sit down and have a rest when you feel you have had enough of the dancing. The music is pretty good and out of the mainstream. It’s got two rooms: one has eighties music and the other, house.

The crowd is a bit more mature than most other city centre clubs (late twenties upwards) and you're sure to spend some hassle free time here. It’s an excellent place if you’ve been having a few drinks in the pub below beforehand and are in the mood to stay out a bit longer. All you need to do is pop upstairs through the back door and there’s no need to bear the elements or any bouncers.

The atmosphere here is really friendly and there’s no worries about having to put up with the pretentiousness that occurs in other city centre clubs. It’s pretty relaxed and you can wear whatever you want on a night out here and not feel out of place.

Bamboo

51a West Regent Street

This is one of the most popular clubs in Glasgow. It's a basement club and made up of 3 separate rooms with a nice intimate feel. These are separated into a dance music room, another for R&B and you can also chill out in the lounge.

The drinks are fairly reasonably priced even at the weekend and they also have nights where you can get certain drinks for a pound (and all drinks for a pound on a Wednesday evening). The music is a mixture of house and R&B and they also have special nights for different types of music including hip hop, indie and even disco.

It's free to get in before 10:30 although it tends to have the best atmosphere from midnight onwards where it can get really busy and hot! It's the sort of place where people go dressed up but it's best to watch out for the bouncers as they can be a bit discriminatory about who they let in (only if your face fits) which can be a bit off putting especially if you've arranged to meet someone in there.
