The food's really tasty and light too. You don't end up feeling completely bloated as they don't pile the dishes with thick sauce. The naan bread is also really like and the one with almonds is fantastic. Great choice at a good price.

Nick Nairn knows best!
This restaurant has established itself as one of the most respected Indian restaurants in Glasgow and is included in local celebrity chef Nick Nairn’s top 25 restaurants in Scotland. It’s slightly out of the city centre but worth making the effort to go and is only a short taxi ride from town and really handy for the SECC if you’re going there for a concert anyway. Although it can be a little bit more expensive than other Glasgow Indian restaurants, the food is different from the standard choice and also of excellent quality. This is partly due to the fact that everything is cooked from fresh (most Indian places cook the meat and sauces separately beforehand and then just combine them) and you can taste the difference. This also means that you have to wait slightly longer for your food.
Prices are reasonable at lunchtime and the pre-theatre menu is also good value which is available during the week. It’s quite small and popular so book ahead. Although there is a selection of beers and wines available, the restaurant also offers a bring your own bottle policy so this softens the blow of the slightly higher prices if you’re going for dinner. Mother India’s sister restaurant can be found just round the corner in Argyle Street which offers less expensive, tapas-style dishes.

The food in this Indian restaurant is so good that they keep having to move premises to keep up with demand. It's a really good set up as you can book a table if you want to be sure that you're not going to have to wait for a table in one area or you can just turn up and they'll do their best to fit you in in a separate area. Just remember that it's pretty well-known for the quality of the food so you may have to wait a while.
For the quality of the food, the prices are extremely reasonable. The restaurant is unlicensed so if you want to be good you can choose some of the freshly prepared fruit juices or smoothies but if not, you can bring in your drinks (or go back for more) from the Irish pub next door or alternatively you're welcome to bring a bottle and don't even have to pay for corkage!
The surroundings are impressive in its new home in Victoria street as it's now located in a converted church which has been done up Bollywood style with chandeliers and a massive staircase at the entrance. The place is buzzing with activity and you can have a good look at what's going on in the kitchen which is quite reassuring, although this does mean that it's more appropriate for dining as a group rather than if you're looking for a quiet meal for two.

This is the Indian restaurant with probably the best view in Glasgow. You look right out onto the front of the Kelvingrove Art Galleries so you can't complain about the setting but the food doesn't disappoint either.
This is the first Indian restaurant that I've been to which has jumped on the tapas bandwagon, which is a fantastic idea. Too many people are paranoid about ordering a whole course of something that they might not like that they end up sticking to the same thing - which is pretty dull! This format gives you the opportunity to try loads of different things and if there's something that you don't like, then I'm sure whoever you're with will be happy enough to finish it off. I tried loads of different things for the first time here and liked the lot!
It's a really good choice although, understandably due to their style of dining, you can't book. Although it's a popular place, it's still worth giving it a go even at the weekend; they're pretty good at finding space to fit you in.

This restaurant, just off Byres Road, is really large although it's probably still recommended to book at it's pretty popular at weekends. The food's really good with lots of choice and you can even try a banquet where you tell the waiter the kinds of things that you like and he gives you a range of dishes to suit your palate. It's a bit more expensive (cause you get more than you'd normally order!) but probably worth it if you're going to have starters anyway to get the chance to try lots of different things.
The staff are really friendly and there seems to be at least 5 people attending you during your meal (between the bar staff and food staff and not sure what else!). If you ask the wrong person about the food, they run to get someone who can help.
Apparently they're the only Indian restaurant in Glasgow with a Eat Safely Award (which I guess can only be a good thing!). The food's pretty healthy too so you don't feel overly bloated after your meal which means it's the ideal place to start off before going for a night out in the west end.
