I think this little haunt must be kept secret somehow. If you visit the Barceloneta area, make sure you stop by this place for tapas. It is the weirdest looking place, because the restaurant only consists of a bar...A really long bar. The waiters are dressed in white maritime uniforms, complete with brass buttons. Apparently the ones wearing the most stripes are the most senior employees. One of them has been there for 30 years!!!!
They shout at eachother and sing at the top of their voices. The interior looks like a German beer keller, but don't let this weird ambience fool you. This place gets so full that you will find it really difficult to move, so get there just before 14:00 so that you can get a bar stool. Make sure that you sit to the right of the bar, where the grill is, because that is where the action is. Things to order: There is one dish which kicks ass: Solomillo a la plancha con pimientos del Padron (the tenderest beef fillet cubes grilled with small green peppers) careful with the peppers...among them there is always a really hot one. The Jamón (cured ham) is really good here. Then, let them advise you on the seafood. Generally, just have a look at what the people around you eat. That is normally a good indication as to what is good that day.
