Excellent quality of the ingredients and innovative recipes done to perfection
You are going to enjoy Bacira from the entrance to the table talk. It’s a Mediterranean (with an Asian touch) restaurant, bright and fresh decorated in Chamberi neighborhood.
The secret: excellent quality of the ingredients and innovative recipes done to perfection. The place is so comfortable, the light, the space, you could eat here forever.
They offer a sample menu for 30€, and a daily menu for 14€. If you prefer to choose from the menu you can go for something light and fresh like Ceviche, or a typical Spanish recipe: Egg with bread (migas), potatoes and chorizo (we order half plates to try more dishes).
For main dishes I’ll suggest the Oaxtail meatballs, with mashed potato, it will melt in your mouth! Or you can try the Grilled smoked octopus, incredible soft.
Amazing desserts, so you have to make room for them.
It’s a great place to go with friends, family or your partner, the place will let you have a conversation, and if you go for lunch, the light from the windows will make you feel as good as the amazing food.

Mediterranean food in an unbelievable terrace
Iroco is a quiet restaurant, perfect for lunch or dinner plus conversation, great service, delicious Mediterranean style food, good price and with an unbelievable terrace inside an amazing patio in the middle of Madrid.
You can have half dishes if you want, great choice for sharing a salad, as the Crispy Chicken salad that I love, and Tomato with burrata.
For main dishes they have rice, pasta, meat, vegetables and meat to chose from. Rice “socarrat” with grilled prawns is amazing. Or you can order their famous Steak tartar. Or the Mini hamburgers with Miraflores cheese, they are a must.
The desserts are crazy, Chocolate “tronco” with olive oil ice cream or Lime biscuit glaccé are a sure win.
It’s a great idea have a cocktail, as the menu is really assorted and original, I always go with a Campari with orange juice, perfect aperitif.
Price is around 35€ each.
Booking is advisable, especially for the terrace in spring and summer. Enjoy!

Absolutely cutting edge, it worth the price.
In November 2009, Michelin awarded Diverxo their first Michelin star, in 2011, the second, and in November 2013, the third, and it’s surprising as it’s an atypical restaurant, non-traditional, non-luxury, it´s absolutely cutting edge. They say the food is Mediterranean with Chinese and Japanese influences, but is more than that, it must be extraterrestrial at least. David Muñoz is a genius.
Flavors you have never had before and you have never imagine surprise you bite by bite. You have 2 menus to chose from, the short one with 8 dishes and the long one with 11, and different from table to table depending on your taste, the number of visits… they recommend the short one for the first time.
I didn't take any picture, for 2 reasons, I was really busy delighting myself savoring and guessing every ingredient. The other reason is that I don’t want to spoil, keeping the secret of what you are going to find there increases the pleasure of the experience.
Make a reservation with months in advance, chose your menu, be open minded and enjoy, you will keep talking about it for months (until you get there again).
The menus are 115€ the short menu and 170€ the long menu, per person without wine.

Wonderful place to meet with friends
Dray Martina is a wonderful place to meet with friends. The deco is a big part of the experience, made by Madrid in love, white furniture, cactus and huge windows that allow street light enters the room.
The food is the perfect match for a vibrant conversation. Mediterranean, simple, tasty and easy to share plates, as the Grilled octopus with avocado brunoise (not good enough for my lovely Galician companion), Croquetas made of cecina, pear and spinach, Duck magret with pumpkin or the Hamburger. We also share a dessert, Chocolate mousse.
I liked Dry Martina most for the space and the atmosphere they offer, so you can choose either breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner to go there and spend a good time with your friends.
Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 2:00, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 2:30. Booking is required.

It’s the place to eat rice
Rice Bar La bomba, best place in Madrid to eat different Spanish traditional rice dishes, and even a Korean rice named Bulgogi, great for dinners. If you are in town with foreign friends, it’s the place to take them, although it’s not the typical Spanish traditional place they’ll expect, the decoration is clearly Mediterreanean .
There are no many starters to choose from, but there are all spectacular, my favorites: Butifarra, Ensaladilla and Croquetas, you can order to share if you ask for Trilogía La Bomba. They also have La Virgen craft beer from Madrid, for a great start.
When it comes to rices I always choose the simplest one, as Arroz A Banda, but at Rice Bar La bomba I change my habits: for lunch I will go with Arroz Berlanga (peaks, chorizo… strong taste, delicious, José Luis García Berlanga’s recipe), and for dinner, something lighter, the Bulgogi Rice, a great Korean rice, that you have to wrap in a lettuce leave, with beef, ginger, garlic.
The dessert is a must, there are all of them great, but Paulova is the king. And for a really grand finale pair it with a MR wine (Moscatel).

Good, pretty and cheap
Are you looking for a pretty, casual, good price, mediterranean but asian influenced restaurant in Chueca for lunch? Bazaar is perfect! I’d rather lunch than dinner because of the great light Bazaar has due to these huge windows and the white decor. Weekdays they have a fixed menu for 10,50€, but choosing the regular menu you can have lunch for 15€.
Pasta, rice, fish or meat, long Mediterranean menu with an asian twist. I always order the same: Prawn Carpaccio, or Bresaola Carpaccio, they served it with pesto sauce and some bread.
Duck confit with hummus or Chicken curry with sotanghon noddles.
For dessert Biscuit glacé with burnt jijona (it’s a traditional xmas Spanish sweet, turrón)
The food is good, and the price is better, in Spanish we say “Bueno, bonito y barato” (Good, pretty and cheap). Reservations are not allowed.
If you like it you can give a try to the other restaurants they have in the same group, Andilana, but Bazaar is my favorite in Madrid.

A must of the Madrid nights
Caripen is a classic, it’s a must of the Madrid nights besides it’s a typical french bistró. The place was the former Lola Flores tablao flamenco, and it still keep the party atmosphere, now and then you can find here celebrities having dinner. It’s a place to celebrate, intimate but not quiet, fun, romantic, intense. Open until very late, you can enjoy fabulous food until 2am.
As a good classic has its classics (a must): Rock mussels (with cream) and Magret de canard (minimum 2).
But there are lots of great other dishes in the menu and beyond the menu as rillettes, escargots bourgignon, pizza or pasta.
My favorite dessert is Negro en camisón, a dark chocolate pie with cream and orange.
The wine list is not to long, a bit expensive also.
We paid 50€/each.
Reservation needed at least a day before.

Healthy, fast, delicious lunch to eat-in or takeaway
Magasand is perfect for a healthy, fast, delicious lunch to eat-in or takeaway. The menu has a long selection of salads and also yo can make your own mix if you don’t find anything you like, but I don’t think so.
They also have a special soup and a salad of the day.
As they claim in their name, sandwiches are their thing. Every one made with a different kind of bread and tasty fresh ingredients. My favorite, the Spicy bonito, its a bagel with tuna and wasabi mayonnaise. The bresaola and tomato focaccia named Giuseppe is amazing too.
For drink I always order a smoothie, is one of the very few places in Madrid that makes good ones.
They have some cakes, but I prefer them better for breakfast or the evening than for lunch. Good coffees as well, so it makes Magasand a great place also for meet with friends in the morning or afternoon for a tea, coffee or juice. On weekends they serve brunch.
The Columela st. restaurant is bigger, two floors and some tables outside. One great thing about the Magasand in Columela st. is that you can rent a basket to make a picnic at the Retiro park that is really close :) they also have another place in Chueca.
5€-8€ for a salad or sandwich.

Super natural food
Super natural food, for breakfast, brunch or lunch (they close at 6pm). The Santa Teresa place is tiny, but really gorgeous. They have a cool system to make your own menu, choosing one salad, one vegetable dish and a main dish. 15€ more or less for a really healthy and tasty food made with love.
There are 4 tables: one in the middle of the room, to share with 8-9 people, another shared table for 6 people, and two independent lovely tables for 2, one of them looking at the open window to the street, great in Spring time.
They also own the Cantina in Matadero, a really special place in Madrid, and now, thanks to Olivia te cuida, with a great kitchen.

Everyone who comes to Madrid goes to visit Círculo de Bellas Artes, and most of them go up to the roof to admire the beautiful views of Madrid. Someone realized that it was a great spot to spend a great time, so they opened a restaurant. Tartan roof is the spring/summer name, Tartan lodge the autumn/winter one.
To go up to the roof you have to pay 3€, unless you have a reservation at the restaurant, what is, unless until today, a very difficult task, almost impossible but needed: 672 557 171
Views are really amazing, and food is incredibly good. The summer restaurant is open air, but they have blankets in case you are cold.
Almost all the menu is easy to share, so is great for groups. We were 6 friends, so we order 9 small dishes and 3 desserts. Croquettes, Ensaladilla rusa with avocado, Coca with stilton, figs, and gorgonzola, Shrimps (great flavour!), Tartar duo (the tuna one better than the salmon one), Rice with ginger and egg, Chukasoba with pork ribs, Fried Apple pie, Ice cream with brownie and Chocolate in two temperatures, surprising!!
They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (at 9pm and 11pm), and you can have a drink later in the bar.
Including the wine, beer and water we paid 30€ each.
