Overpriced and Average

XCRobin lo descubrió en julio de 2009

The food here was rather overpriced, especially considering the portions that were served. The food wasn't anything special, especially from one of the higher end restaurants in the North End. However, once I received my food, I was rather disappointed in the meager portions. All in all, I felt that while I had a decent meal, I would have rather spent my money at a different restaurant.

Boston Classic

Quincy Marketplace is one of the more downtown locations to eat in the city. The building itself is from the 1820's (if I remember correctly), which is now holds many small businesses which offer a wide variety of food. You can grab some food and sit outside on the many park benches and enjoy the street performers or you can find a bench inside the Hall itself and sit down. If you can't find a seat downstairs, be sure to check upstairs, as there are usually a few open tables.

The best day of the week to visit is Saturday or Sunday. Children and adults alike will enjoy a meal here. Enjoy!

A Boston Must See!

XCRobin lo descubrió en julio de 2009

Mike's Pastries is one of the famous "mom-and-pop" restaurants of Boston. Located in the North End of Boston, this dessert parlor will have a line out the door (It doesn't take long to wait though) even on the weekdays. Walking through the city around dinnertime, there were be people carrying boxes of their pastries in easily recognizable boxes.

If you visit, be sure to eat some of their cannolis. They make the perfect after dinner dessert, and are cheaper than most desserts that can be found at restaurants. While the store can be filled with people and rather busy, the sidewalk outside is a much more laid back setting.

If you are in the North End for dinner, I would highly recommend coming by Mike's Pastries for the perfect light dessert.

Hands Down Best Pizza Ever

XCRobin lo descubrió en julio de 2009

Pizzeria Regina may be a small, hole-in-the wall, place located in Boston's North End, but they are by far and away the best pizza in Boston. On weekends the line can stretch halfway down the block, but it is well worth it.

While the waitstaff may be some of the worst that you will experience, they give you what you want; pizza. The waitresses are cross, rather hostile, and at times bordering on rude. HOWEVER, this is simply the best pizza in Boston, and in my opinion, the best I have ever had. This pizza is heaven. The pizza is baked in brick ovens. People don't generally linger at the restaurant, seeing as they only serve pizza and drinks, but no trip to Boston is complete without a trip to Pizzeria Regina. And in regards to the actual pizza, the cheese pizza is perfect. The less toppings the better.

Great Experience

XCRobin lo descubrió en julio de 2009

Sam Adams is the premier local beer in the Boston area. While the building is very hard to locate (it would be best to ask someone if you get lost.) once you get there the whole experience is very enjoyable.

The tour is rather short, but they show you all of the original ingredients to the Boston Lager, even allowing you to taste them. There's a quick walk to see the various parts of the brewing process. The last part of the tour is beer tasting, which is by far the best part of the tour. This isn't just a beer tasting session, the tour guide explains in detail all of the different parts of the beer, how it should be properly enjoyed, and about other beers that are offered. They pass out pitchers and explain the specifics about each beer. They always give out the Boston Lager, and the seasonal ale. The third beer is different, and while I have been to the brewery a few times, I haven't gotten the same final beer twice. Also, the tour is free. There is a suggested donation of $2 which benefits local charities.

I would advise taking the 1:00pm tour, which allows you to swing by the Harpoon brewery around 4:00pm for their tasting session.

The Middle East is a small venue, usually local bands perform. When larger bands do perform shows are often sold out quickly, so try to get tickets early. It's not a bad venue considering.

Fenway Rules

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most storied baseball teams in the US. You would be hard pressed to find a fans as passionate about their team. They live and die with every post season. As one of the most dominant teams throughout the 100+ year league history, Boston has won the World Series seven times, but went through an 86 year drought, snapped in 2004.

A visit to Boston wouldn't be complete without seeing Fenway. Now the oldest ballpark in the Major League, it holds 37,000 fans, and boasts the longest current sell-out (Now on a 456+ consecutive steak). It is one of two of the classic ballparks in the US, with Wrigley Field being the other.

The Red Sox and Fenway are one of the defining characteristics of Boston.

Best Pizza in Rhode Island!

XCRobin lo descubrió en noviembre de 2008

As a university student, I have eaten a lot of pizza. West Main Pizza offers the best pizza in the area. The crust is wheat and is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The specialty pizzas are AMAZING. Try the "Buffalo Chicken" pizza or the "All American" for some of the best pizza you've eve had. Even a plain cheese pizza is great.

West Main isn't expensive, and they offer other items other than pizza. They have booths and tables for a sit-in dining experience. Every pizza is good, but look for their special pizzas, for those are why West Main offers the best pizza south of Boston.
